Sprint Zero // Power App
Tuned In is a collaborative planning application developed for a global financial firm to help leaders and team members proactively surface workload pressures, enhance wellbeing, and foster meaningful 1:1 engagement through intuitive design and real-time insights.
A global financial firm needed a more effective way to support employee wellbeing by enabling proactive conversations between team leaders and individual contributors. Their existing low-fidelity application lacked the intuitive design, automation, and data visualization needed to surface workload-related pressures before they escalated into crises.
Challenges
The Tuned In application was reimagined through a Sprint Zero engagement to transform it from a basic concept into a high-fidelity Power Platform experience integrated with Microsoft Teams. The initiative focused on modernizing the interface, streamlining manual tasks, and enhancing usability for both team leaders and members. Key activities included:
User-Centered Design: Conducted stakeholder interviews, reviewed the current app, and mapped user journeys to inform a modern, intuitive interface.
Rapid Prototyping: Built a working prototype using Power Apps with a SharePoint backend, showcasing core functionality for both team members and team leaders.
Design System & Branding: Created a comprehensive design system and rebranded the app from “Huddle” to “Tuned In” to better reflect its mission.
Architecture & Licensing: Delivered a scalable architecture and evaluated licensing models, recommending a Pay-As-You-Go plan for initial rollout.
Feature Enhancements:
Team members could log activities, select sentiments, and manage responsibilities.
Team leaders gained access to dashboards and summary views to monitor team dynamics over time.
Solution
The Sprint Zero engagement resulted in a validated prototype and a clear roadmap for MVP development. Key outcomes included:
Improved Usability: A simplified site structure and redesigned user flows enhanced productivity and user satisfaction.
Data-Driven Insights: The “Art of the Possible” dashboard enabled leaders to track team sentiment and capacity trends over time.
Operational Readiness: The prototype demonstrated viability for full-scale deployment, with a projected MVP timeline of 10–12 weeks and an estimated cost of $125K–$145K.
Future Vision: Post-MVP enhancements were identified, including Copilot integration, automated task suggestions, exportable activity data, and micro-interactions to celebrate milestones.
